Bomb Squad Removes Suspicious Military Device From Torrance Store

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — Bomb Squad officials safely removed a suspicious device Sunday that was left inside of a sporting goods store in Torrance last night.

According to the Torrance Police Department, officers were sent to Turner's Outdoorsman, located in the 18300 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, around 8:30 p.m. Saturday for report of a suspicious device.

Once on scene, officers learned the suspicious military ordnance was dropped off at the counter of the store.

As a result of the investigation, the Los Angeles County Bomb Squad responded to the scene, and safely removed the device.

Surrounding stores were evacuated while officials remained on scene.

All Southbound lanes were closed between 182nd Street and 186th Street during the investigation. Officials reopened the area around 9:34 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

Officials ruled the device was not a threat.
