Body Of Man Found Near Railroad Tracks In Compton

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Wednesday investigated the death of a man whose body was found near railroad tracks in Compton.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies discovered the body in a tunnel area just before midnight on Tuesday near the Union Pacific tracks located close to the intersection of North Alameda Street and Rosecrans Avenue.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Compton Fire Department officials were called to the scene to help extricate the body.

A coroner's investigator was also sent to determine the victim's cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
