Hit-and-run crash leaves person dead in McDonald's parking lot in Torrance

An investigation is underway after a hit-and-run crash left a person dead in the parking lot of a McDonald's in Torrance on Saturday night.

The victim's body was reported at around 8:45 p.m. outside of the restaurant located at Ocean Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Torrance Police Department.

Investigators say that the person, who hasn't yet been identified, was struck by four different cars and died at the scene.

"The collision involved multiple vehicles, and a pedestrian fell off the curb in the Pacific Coast Highway lanes," a police statement said.

They did not yet reveal how many of the drivers remained at the scene following the collision, but one person was arrested at the scene on suspicion of DUI.

SkyCal flew over the scene of the investigation, where a white sheet could be seen covering the person's body. The whole parking lot and surrounding area was closed as detectives surveyed the scene.

Anyone who knows more is asked to contact police at (310) 618-5557.
