Body Found By Hiker In Angeles National Forest

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST (CBSLA.com) — A man hiking in the Angeles National Forest on Saturday afternoon discovered a body covered in dirt and debris, about three and a half miles up a trail.

An investigation is underway to determine if the body is that of a hiker reported missing in the area.

A hiker said he was on a trail Saturday afternoon when he came upon a man looking for his friend who was believed to have gone missing in the area. They later found the body in the course of their search.

It's unclear how long the body, which has not yet been identified, has been in the hills.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies on Sunday morning set up a command post near Prairie Fork Trail to investigate the incident. They were preparing on Sunday morning to recover the body.
