Boat Catches Fire Off Avalon Harbor And Sinks

AVALON (CBSLA.com) — A 40-foot boat caught fire and sunk Friday off Catalina harbor.

The Real Joy caught fire before noon about four miles north of Avalon Harbor, the US Coast Guard said.

Two people were on board at the time and abandoned ship to their dinghy.

The boat then sunk.

The two people were rescued by the Coast Guard and taken back to Avalon. No injuries were reported.
