'Blue Tone' Wins $75K Santana Mile At Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Blue Tone won the $75,000 Santana Mile for older horses by 2 3/4 lengths Sunday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Kent Desormeaux, Blue Tone ran the distance in 1:36.11 and paid $11.60, $6 and $4.40 at 9-2 odds.

Edge of Reality returned $9.40 and $6.20, while Ankeny Hill was another half-length back in third and paid $9 to show.

The victory, worth $47,400, increased Blue Tone's career earnings to $338,150, with five wins in 14 starts. The 6-year-old gelding was coming off a 12-length loss in the Grade 1 Donn Handicap on Feb. 7 at Gulfstream Park.
