'Blue Moon' Graces Skies In SoCal

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A "Blue Moon" graced the skies overnight into Friday morning.

According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, most Blue Moons look pale gray and white, and are similar in appearance to other full moons.

The rare astronomical phenomenon comes amid a second full moon that has been recorded in the month of July this year.

The first full moon was documented on July 2.

Scientists explained the next Blue Moon will occur in 2018.
