Bill Cosby Ordered To Give Deposition In Sexual Abuse Lawsuit

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.COM) — Bill Cosby has been ordered to give a sworn deposition in October in a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by the comedian at the Playboy Mansion in 1974, when she was 15 years old, attorney Gloria Allred said Wednesday.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Craig Karlan ordered Cosby on Tuesday to give his deposition on Oct. 9. The woman, Judy Huth, will give her deposition Oct. 15. The orders were made public on Wednesday.

"We are pleased that we will now be able to move ahead without further delay on Ms. Huth's case and we look forward to taking Mr. Cosby's deposition on Oct. 9, 2015," said Allred, who is representing Huth.

Huth is one of more than 40 women who allege Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted them. In a 2005 Cosby deposition that was partly unsealed recently, Cosby said he used sedative drugs as part of consensual sex. The next year, Cosby reached a confidential settlement for an undisclosed sum with Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee who accused Cosby of sexual assault.

Huth said in her court papers she has suffered "psychological damage and mental anguish" throughout her life. She only recently discovered the problems were "caused by the sexual abuse perpetrated by Cosby," she said.

Her lawsuit alleges sexual battery, intention infliction of emotional distress and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Cosby's attorneys have denied any wrongdoing by the comedian.
