Big Rig Crashes, Splits Fuel Tank On Eastbound 10 Freeway In West Covina

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — Crews Wednesday worked to clean up gallons of diesel fuel that spilled during a traffic collision on a freeway in West Covina.

The crash unfolded shortly before 3:30 a.m., located on the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway at North Sunset Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol officers.

Upon their arrival, officers learned a big rig crashed into the center divider of the freeway.

The crash subsequently caused one of the truck's fuel tanks to split, spewing around 60 gallons of diesel onto the roadway.

Caltrans crews were called to evaluate the best way to clean up the spill.

All eastbound lanes were closed until 6 a.m., officers said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. No injuries were reported.
