Crash Involving 3 Big Rigs Snarls Traffic On 710 Freeway In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday investigated a traffic collision involving three tractor trailers in Long Beach.

The crash occurred just after 12:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the 710 freeway, located at the northbound 405 Freeway connector, according to California Highway Patrol officers.

Upon their arrival, paramedics transported two people to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Hospital officials reported one of the victims sustained critical injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed the incident resulted from a chain reaction crash in which the second big rig was jack-knifed on the freeway.

All southbound lanes of the 710 Freeway remained closed until just before 8 a.m. due to a diesel spill, officials said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
