Big Rig Blows Tire, Lands Upright In Wash Alongside 91 Freeway In Riverside

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A portion of the eastbound Riverside Freeway at La Sierra Avenue will remain closed through at least 10 a.m. Wednesday while crews retrieve a big rig from the wash alongside the freeway.

The semi hauling a load of mulch was reported over the side of the freeway at 6:17 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The big rig apparently experienced a tire blow out and went down the embankment on the right side, through a guardrail and a chain link fence, landed on the railroad tracks and ended upright in the wash.

The driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The La Sierra offramp and one right lane of the eastbound freeway will be closed while crews repair 20 to 30 feet of guardrail and 300 feet of fence.
