Bicyclist Killed In Aliso Viejo Hit-And-Run; Suspect Caught

ALISO VIEJO (CBSLA) – A driver suspected of fleeing the scene after hitting and killing a bicyclist in Aliso Viejo early Wednesday morning has been arrested.

The collision occurred at 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Woods Canyon and Westridge drives. The bicyclist, later identified as Michael David Tomlinson, was crossing the street when he was struck by a car, which sped away, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reports.

A witnessed rendered first aid at the scene and Tomlinson was then rushed by ambulance to a hospital, where he died.

Tomlinson's widow told CBSLA's Michele Gile she saw her husband's mangled bike on social media and immediately drove to the scene, only to found out he'd been killed.

Rogelio Martinez Cuin was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect's Volvo was located a short distance away and the driver was detained, the sheriff's department said.

Authorities later identified the driver as Rogelio Martinez Cuin. He was booked for felony hit and run.
