Bicyclist, 55, Killed In Crash With Pickup Truck
THERMAL (CBSLA.com) — Officials say a 55-year-old bicyclist was killed Saturday afternoon when she collided with a pickup truck hauling a trailer in Thermal.
CHP officers were dispatched to the corner of 60th Avenue and Harrison Street just before 12:15 p.m.
The county coroner's office identified the woman as Lavonne Koester of Alta Loma.
Koester died at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, according to the sheriff-coroner.
The Associated Press said the victim was riding as part of the Tour de Palm Springs, a 100-mile ride from Palm Springs through the Coachella Valley designed to raise money for local nonprofit groups.
