Beauty Secrets Women Across The Globe Swear By

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — They may not be known yet in the U.S. but CBS2's Lisa Sigell got her hands on a list of products exploding in beauty markets across the globe.

Experts say they will transform your skin -- and there are a few that won't take a hit to your bank account.

Susan Yara of MixedMakeup.com has traveled the world to find the best of the best. Here are her top picks:

Marula Oil (South Africa)

Loaded with fatty acids, especially omega 9, this extraction hails from marula nut. Women in South Africa use it for healing and moisturizing their skin, to avoid stretch marks and eradicate redness. Yara recommends marula oil from African Botanics.

Konjac Sponge (Japan)

It looks like any ordinary sponge but experts say the konjac sponge is a better way to exfoliate the face and body without being abrasive. It's made from the root of an Asian plant that looks like a turnip. Makers grind it into a mold form to create a sponge.

Snail Excretion (Korea)

You read that right – snail excretion, the slime it leaves behind as it slithers. It packs in proteins and glycolic acids to smooth fine lines, wrinkles and scars. Once you get past the thought of putting it on your face, Yara recommends Mizon All In One Snail Repair Cream, which has 92 percent snail excretion. Users online rave it also reduces redness, pores and acne. Many Korean women say it's all you need to save your skin.

Tumeric (India)

This popular spice also is a proven anti-inflammatory so many women use it as a quick acne treatment. When mixed with a little lemon juice it makes a paste that takes the red out and won't scar you skin. Place it right on a pimple and let it dry overnight. Your pesky red friend will have likely vacated the premises by the morning.

Yogurt-Honey Mask (Greece)

You don't need to live on the Mediterranean to reap the benefits of this anti-aging remedy: go to the grocery store and pick up some full-fat Greek yogurt, mix with honey and leave on your skin for five to 10 minutes before washing off. Yara said it will fight acne and make your skin look smoother. And you can have what's leftover for breakfast!
