Mandatory Evacuations Ordered In Beaumont As Fast-Moving Brush Fire Threatens Homes

BEAUMONT (CBSLA.com) — Mandatory evacuations were underway in Beaumont Saturday night as firefighters battled a fast-burning brush fire.

About 450 people were ordered by Riverside County fire officials to evacuate Live Oak Canyon Road between the 10 Freeway and San Timoteo Canyon Road/Fisherman's Retreat.

As of 10:50 p.m., CAL FIRE Riverside confirmed the Palmer Fire had reached 3,200 acres and was 10 percent contained.

Fire officials said dozens of homes were under threat as erratic winds whipped through the area.

Evacuation centers have been set up at the following locations:

Yucaipa Equestrian Center (For large and small animals)

Yucaipa, CA 92399
CAL FIRE Riverside said law enforcement believes the blaze was sparked by fireworks.
