Beaches Reopen After Shark Sighting Near San Clemente Pier

SAN CLEMENTE (CBSLA.com) — A ten-foot-long shark sighting was reported Monday at the end of the San Clemente Municipal Pier, authorities said.

Lifeguards received a report of a large shark seen swimming along the city's 1,300-foot-long pier at around 9:40 a.m., according to city spokesperson Laura Ferguson.

The lifeguards estimated the length of the shark to be about 10 feet in length.

In response to the report, lifeguards closed the water to swimmers from North Beach to Lost Winds Beach (Los Alamos) through 11:40 a.m., Ferguson said.
