Barricaded suspect taken into custody after standoff in Studio City

A suspect that led LAPD on a brief chase before barricading himself for several hours inside his vehicle was taken into custody Tuesday morning.

The man was arrested shortly before 6 a.m. near Ventura Boulevard and Colfax Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His name was not immediately released. 

Authorities say officers went to the 3600 block of Sunswept Drive early Tuesday morning on a report of a "possible prowler," and found the man in the vehicle.

When police arrived to the scene the suspect drove into a police car before speeding off. A short time later police forced the vehicle to stop and a standoff ensued.

The standoff with LAPD SWAT officers lasted around 6 hours before the man surrendered.

A section of Ventura Boulevard near Colfax Ave was shutdown during the standoff.
