Armed Man Arrested Following Standoff At South LA Home

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An armed man who allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a shotgun was arrested Monday following a standoff with police in South Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were sent just before 1:00 a.m. to a home located in the area of 60th Street and Budlong Avenue.

Upon their arrival, authorities learned the suspect locked himself inside the back of the residence and refused to come outside.

Residents in the immediate area were evacuated while SWAT teams moved in.

KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reported it took 19 rounds of tear gas to remove the man from the home.

No injuries were reported.
