Armed Pursuit Suspect Arrested Following Standoff In Commerce

COMMERCE (CBSLA.com) — Police Monday arrested an armed suspect who barricaded himself inside a construction site at the end of a pursuit.

According to California Highway Patrol officers, the chase unfolded around midnight along the 5 Freeway in the San Juan Capistrano area when officers attempted to stop the suspect for a DUI investigation.

The pursuit terminated in the 7000 block of Bandini Boulevard in Commerce.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to the area following the end of the pursuit for report of an armed barricade suspect.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect harassed employees inside of the building.

Six or seven employees fled from the building leaving no potential hostages, CBS2's Mark Dunn reported.

KNX 1070's Margaret Carrero reported the standoff came to peaceful end shortly before 9 a.m. with the arrest of the suspect.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
