BAFTA Awards 2021: Chloé Zhao Wins Best Director, 'Nomadland' Wins Best Picture

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — The British Academy Film Awards, celebrating the very best in film of the past year, were held over the weekend in London.

The best film award went to "Nomadland," with filmmaker Chloé Zhao becoming only the second woman, and the first woman of color, to win the award for best director. Star Frances McDormand was named best actress and the film also took the cinematography prize.

The ceremony was held virtually, but most winners were watching and delivered their speeches remotely.
