Baby Unharmed After Being Thrown 35-Feet From Car, Into Drainage Grate

TEXARKANA, Ark. (CBSLA.com) — An 8-month-old girl was found without a scratch after being thrown 35-feet from a car in a violent crash.

It happened Friday night in Texarkana, Arkansas, where a tractor-trailer flipped a car with a baby, and four people inside.

When firefighters arrived, the family told them the baby had been thrown from the car, and was missing.

"As we made our way down, the good Samaritan who was already out here searching said he heard something coming from this general area," said Josh Moore, a firefighter. "And about that time, we were able to uncover some of this hay."

Firefighters explain that they pulled hay back from a drainage grate, and found the baby sitting down in that grate.

"There had to be some kind of divine intervention for her to end up being OK the way she was," the firefighter said.

All but one person that was in the car has been released from the hospital.
