Azusa Man Accused Of Sexually Molesting Girl, 10

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a man from Azusa was charged Friday with six felony counts in connection with the sexual molestation of a 10-year-old girl.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office said in a written statement that Victor Martinez's court appearance was continued to Oct. 27.

He is currently being held in lieu of $1.2 million bail.

Authorities said Martinez, a friend of the girl's family, is accused of sexually molesting the child on Oct. 20 and instructing her not to tell anyone.

The unidentified girl reportedly told her mother two days later.

While investigating, authorities said they learned that the 48-year-old defendant had allegedly previously molested the child.

He faces a maximum sentence of 37 years to life in prison, if convicted as charged, authorities said.
