Autopsy Pending For Male Inmate, 56, Found Hanging From Bunk At LA Jail

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The coroner's office says an autopsy is pending for an inmate found dead hanging from his bunk at a Los Angeles jail.

Sheriff's officials said deputies discovered the body Sunday evening during a compliance check at the downtown Twin Towers Correctional Facility.

Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter identified the inmate Tuesday as 56-year-old Douglas Brown-Palamara.

Deputy Lisa Jansen Jansen said the inmate was alone in the cell and there were no obvious signs of foul play.

The death is under investigation.
