Authorities Seek Man Suspected In Robberies Of Gold Exchange Outlets

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities seek a man suspected in armed robberies at several Crown Gold Exchange locations in the Inland Empire, police said Monday.

An employee who is afraid and asked to remain anonymous said she was held up on the job by a man in a hat with a black, curly wig and a gun in his backpack.

"My heart was racing" she said. "I was pretty nervous. I have three kids. I just wanted to be able to go home to them."

Security video captured images of the man suspected in the robbery demanding the goods.

Co-owner Cesar Meyer said the employee did the right thing:  She hit the panic button," Meyer said. "It's terrifying seeing something like that. I'm glad so far everyone's been safe."

Meyer co-owns several Crown Gold stores. Their Chino store was also robbed Friday by the same man in a wig and hat.

In October, the Hemet store was robbed by two men pointing guns. The owner say the stores don't keep cash and pay in checks.

"We need to send a message to everyone," Meyer said. "This is not the place to rob. We don't have cash here; there's nothing to get."

Hemet police say information is being shared among police agencies but so far there are no arrests.
