Authorities Respond To Long Beach Fire And Discover Murder Victim
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Long Beach Police on a routine patrol smelled smoke about 12:15 a.m. and discovered a motor home on fire, said authorities.
Using fire extinguishers in their patrol car, police were able to put out the fire.
Long Beach Fire personnel entered the premises -- located in the 500 block of W. 17th Street -- and discovered a deceased 61-year-old male.
Officials were able to determine the man was the victim of foul play and homicide detectives were called to the scene.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office is in the process of positively identifying the victim as well as determining the cause of death.The man's next of kin was also being notified.
No suspect information is available at this time. Officials said a motive is unknown.
The investigation remains ongoing.
