Authorities Report Brand Fire In Glendale At 60 Percent Containment
GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — The brush fire above Brand Park in Glendale, which was reported Sunday, is 60 percent contained as of Tuesday, authorities said.
Glendale Fire Department spokesman Dan Bell said no structures are threatened and no evacuations have been ordered since the 10-acre fire started just after noon Sunday. Within five hours, the fire had spread to 150 acres, burning into "very steep, treacherous canyons," Bell said.
It was reported shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday that approximately 200 firefighters remained on scene to maintain control over the blaze.
The lower areas of Brand Park and Brand Library were opened around noon Tuesday. The hiking trails in the park, however, are reportedly scheduled to remain closed until Friday.
The 150-acre brush fire's cause remains under investigation.
