Authorities Probe Death Of Boy, 2, In Signal Hill

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a toddler in Signal Hill.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says officers responded to the 2300 block of Lewis Avenue just after 5:44 a.m. following a report of a baby that wasn't breathing.

Upon arriving on scene, officers administered CPR on the child, a 2-year-old boy.

"The child was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead," Deputy Amber Smith of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told KNX 1070.

Deputies said the child's mother, boyfriend, and other relatives live at the location.

No further information has been released, and no arrests have been made, authorities said.

The cause of death is yet to be determined.
