VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Van Nuys that left one person injured Monday.

Deputies responded to a report of a person down at the Sepulveda Orange Line Station, located in the 15400 block of Erwin Street, shortly before 6 p.m.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesperson says there was an exchange between the suspect and a sergeant who monitors the Orange Line. They say the suspect brandished a weapon and the sergeant fired his gun, hitting the suspect in the abdomen.

The suspect was taken by ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the LASD spokesperson.

A second man was detained for unknown reasons.

No deputies were injured.
