Authorities Continue To Investigate Deadly Deputy-Involved Shooting In Norwalk

NORWALK (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deadly deputy-involved shooting in Norwalk on Wednesday.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies were sent to the area near Imperial Highway and Pioneer Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Upon their arrival, a deputy-involved shooting subsequently occurred.

One suspect was struck by gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A second suspect was taken into custody uninjured.

"Detectives have learned that both suspects produced handguns and pointed them at the deputies," said Deputy Kelvin Moody.

Authorities recovered both suspects' weapons at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
