Authorities Bust Multimillion-Dollar Marijuana-Growing Operation In Fillmore

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Thousands of marijuana plants were found in the hills above Fillmore, either growing in huts or green houses.

The Ventura County Sheriff says that this is one of the biggest marijuana growing operations on private property they've found in the county.

"It's a multi-million dollar operation, being distributed in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and LA Counties -- the marijuana was being grown in a so-called "co-op" and was being sold at medicinal marijuana shops," Undersheriff Gary Pentis said.

"They've made no attempt to cover up what they're doing," Pentis added.

Members of the Ventura County Sheriffs Drug Task Force made the find after getting complaints from Fillmore residents.

The facility has high-tech power, but posed electrical and fire threats.

They were also stealing water from nearby streams.

The operation included drying rooms, packaging rooms, and storage bins filled with equipment

Eight workers were detained and questioned, but no arrests have been made yet.
