Man Sought In Attempted Sexual Assault Of Girl In Irvine

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Thursday to locate a 42-year-old man who is wanted for attempting to sexually assault a girl in Irvine.

The Irvine Police Department has issued a $1 million warrant for the arrest of Garden Grove resident Robert Tana.

According to police, Tana is accused of attempting to sexually assault a juvenile while she slept in her room around 4:00 a.m. on March 23.

The victim was ultimately able to fight Tana off before he left the room.

A preliminary investigation revealed Tana was acquainted with one of the residents at the home where the assault took place.

Detectives described him as an Asian man who has brown eyes and black hair. He stands 5-foot-9 tall, weighs 160 pounds and is known to frequent the Huntington Beach and Garden Grove areas.

Tana drives a black four-door 2015 Cadillac sedan that has a California license plate number that reads: "7MMB385."

The case has been submitted to the Orange County District Attorney's Office for criminal charges.
