Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested In Moorpark

MOORPARK (CBSLA.com) —A 20-year-old man remained in custody Wednesday for allegedly attempting to fatally stab a man and assaulting an officer.

Authorities were sent around 10:10 p.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of First Street for report of a stabbing, according to the Moorpark Police Department.

Upon their arrival, deputies learned a family disturbance occurred at the home, and a man had been stabbed multiple times.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital for emergency medical care. Officials said he is expected to survive.

The suspect -- who was later identified as Saul Antonio Gonzalez, of Moorpark -- fled from the scene in a vehicle.

According to officials, Gonzalez was located and subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder several hours later.

During the arrest, he assaulted a deputy, which resulted in an additional charge of batter on a peace officer.

Gonzalez is being held on $655,000 at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
