Athletes, politicians, broadcasters pay tribute to legendary Dodgers announcer Vin Scully

Dodgers fans in Highland Park remember legendary broadcaster Vin Scully

Athletes, sportscasters, and fans mourned the death of Vin Scully Tuesday night. The legendary broadcaster who was the voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers died at the age of 94.

The Dodgers team tweeted about the passing of Scully. 

The cross-freeway Angels followed suit, stating that "Vin's voice served as the perfect backdrop to some of our game's most beloved moments."

Gov. Gavin Newsom tweeted Scully defined his medium. 

Mayor Eric Garcetti tweeted that Scully's passing was the end of a chapter in LA's history. 

The official account for Major League Baseball posted a tribute to Scully. 

Basketball legend, Magic Johnson, tweeted to the Dodger fan base about the passing of Scully. 

NBA superstar and current LA Laker LeBron James called Scully a "City of Angels icon."

CBS Los Angeles reporter Jake Reiner paid homage to "the best there ever was or will be."

"The soundtrack of the city is silent tonight," said the LA Clippers in a tweet. 

The LA Chargers posted a tribute to Scully. 

The LA Rams also paid respects to the sportscaster. 

Jeff Passan, of ESPN, tweeted that Scully made baseball a more beautiful game. 

ESPN's Scott Van Pelt offered additional thoughts on the impact left behind by both Scully and Bill Russell. 

Longtime play-by-play radio announcer for the Mets, Howie Rose, said he demonstrated that language still matters. 

The LA Fire Department posted a poetic tribute to the sportscaster. 

Fellow broadcasters from the John and Ken Show tweeted that the Hall of Fame legend would be missed. 

The Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings tweeted tributes to Scully. 

The University of Southern California Athletic Department also posted a tribute to "the voice of our city."

Los Angeles International Airport announced that their iconic pylons would be lit Dodger blue in Scully's memory. 

Former Dodger Dave Stewart also took to Twitter with his thoughts on the legendary broadcaster.

Iconic Dodger fan and and tennis great Billie Jean King posted a photo of herself with Scully. 

Scully's alma mater Fordham University shared their thoughts on Twitter. 

The PGA, for whom Scully called several tournaments over the years, posted a video tribute.
