At Least 4 Shots Fired At Parked Car In Whittier, Injuring 1

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say the search is underway for those responsible for shooting at a parked car in unincorporated Whittier, and wounding a man in his 20s.

The incident unfolded at Laurel Avenue and Lakeland Road, where a vehicle was parked just after 1 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators say it was then that shots were fired inside the car. As many as four bullet holes were visible on the driver's side, where the male victim was seated.

He was transported to he hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. His girlfriend, who was in the passenger seat, was uninjured.

It remains unclear whether the shooter (s) walked up to the vehicle, or drove passed it when they opened fire.

A motive for the shooting was unclear.
