5 Protesting Police Brutality Detained In Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say five people have been detained following a police protest in Hollywood.

About 40 protesters gathered at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue Friday evening to protest police brutality.

The protesters were met by officers who asked that demonstrators remain on sidewalks and not in the streets.

"It got a little bit into a scuffle when a couple of the people were actually confronting the LAPD officers basically head-on," KCAL9's Stu Mundel said. "There was a lot of shouting going on and then some shoving."

Officers detained five people.

Hollywood Boulevard remained shut at La Brea Avenue.

No further information was available.
