2 Killed In Pasadena Domestic Violence Stabbing

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A man and a woman were killed Monday in a domestic-violence stabbing in a San Gabriel Valley neighborhood, police said.

According to authorities, the suspected killer is believed to be a relative of the victims, Larry and Denise Bressler.

A man in his 50s called officials around 6:19 a.m. stating he and a woman he was living with were stabbed at an apartment  in the 200 block of North Madison Avenue in Pasadena, the Verdugo Fire Department said.

"He reported that a family member, and he provided a name, had stabbed them and that he left the apartment building," Pasadena police Lt. Tracey Ibarra said.

KCAL9's Dave Lopez spoke with a friend of the victim, Gunner Williams, who was shocked by the news.

Williams mentioned that Larry was the general manager at Chef's Center and was a kind man.

"Its just sad and unfortunate," said Williams. "There is one less kind person like him."

Authorities were able to locate the suspect, who was also injured, walking west on Walnut Street about a block away. He was transported to a hospital and later arrested.

"He had blood on him, which is pretty indicative he had been involved in an incident," Ibarra said.

According to Williams, the suspect is a man in his 30s who had been living in Florida but had recently moved to California to help with his business.

The victims were also transported to a hospital, where they both died of their injuries.

Denise passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital, and Larry passed away while he was in surgery, Ibarra said.

"It just goes to show you that it doesn't matter who you are," Williams added. "Everybody I guess has potential to snap."

Lake and Los Robles avenues were closed for an investigation.

In a statement, members of the Chef's Center said: "Larry was an esteemed and well-regarded member of our team and the community at large. He will be greatly missed."
