At-Large Suspect Fatally Shoots Man, 51, Following Fender Bender Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —   Authorities say an at-large suspect fatally shot a 51-year-old man after the two were involved in a car crash near the victim's home.

Officials said the shooter went to the victim's home and shot him after the victim refused a demand of $500 to fix the suspect's vehicle.

The victim, Darrell Daniels of Willowbrook, had been in a fender bender with the suspect near Main Street and El Segundo Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

The two men exchanged insurance information following the collision.

The suspect remains at-large. No description was given for the suspect.

The homicide was reported at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East 121st Street, Deputy Amber Smith of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau said.

"The suspect followed the victim home and confronted the victim at gunpoint at his house and again demanded the $500. The victim refused and the suspect drove away," Smith said.

The suspect returned -- about an hour later -- and spotted the victim, in the driveway outside his home, Smith said.

"The suspect walked up to the victim and fired multiple rounds, striking the victim in the upper torso," she said.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
