Barricade Situation In Silver Lake Allegedly Started As Roommate Dispute With False Police Report

SILVER LAKE (CBSLA.com)  —  A man wanted on an assault with a deadly weapon charge barricaded himself inside a home in Silver Lake.

Police and a SWAT team surrounded the 3300 block of Hamilton Way around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, according to LAPD.

They evacuated six locations in the area and closed a four-block section of Sunset Boulevard to traffic.

The suspect was taken into custody around 8:30 p.m.

KCAL9's Erica Nochlin said the incident started as a dispute between roommates.

A woman called 911 about 3:30 p.m., Nochlin reported. She said the woman told police her roommate assaulted her with a gun.

Police told Nochlin they do not believe the incident ever took place.

Investigators spoke to the suspect and said he was "quite cooperative." They are trying to determine if the woman who made the call had a malicious intent.

It's unclear if police found a weapon at the scene.

No one has been arrested.
