Arsonist Caught On Tape Torching Little League Score Booth

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Huntington Valley Little leaguers in Huntington Beach want to know who would intentionally light their score booth on fire,  just hours after they took a team picture next to it for their last game of the season Sunday night.

Security tape from a neighbor's house shows a man in a grey hoodie carrying a brown bag, kneeling at the score booth, igniting it then walking away.

"I couldn't stand watching it because  I don't like seeing stuff getting destroyed," Little league player Justin Hernandez said.

Tim Stone, Huntington Valley Little League president  says the kids don't feel safe playing there

"A lot of them are feeling violated because this is home to them," Stone said.

Stone says  he's had to remove mattresses and drug paraphernalia so many times from the score booth that he recently chained it up at night. He says the homeless are drawn to the field because there are no lights on at night and added the problem has gotten a lot worse in the last year.

A team mom is worried her family's home away from home isn't as safe as it used to be.

"I feel as violated, this is our safe zone," Tracy McNiven said.
