2 Arrests Made In Murder Of South LA Taco Vendor

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police have arrested two suspects in the murder of a South Los Angeles taco vendor.

Investigators say 29-year-old Alvaro Mata-Rico of Bell Gardens was working at his stand on East 51st Street and McKinley Avenue when he was gunned down shortly after 11 p.m. Friday.

Three suspects shot him in what investigators believe was a robbery attempt, a LAPD spokesperson stated Tuesday. Mata-Rico was pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the suspects arrested are expected to be released at a press conference Wednesday.
