Arrest Made In Stabbing Murder Of AAA Serviceman

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  LA County Sheriff's have arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing of an AAA serviceman, officials announced Friday.

Raymond Zabala, 35, was killed Tuesday  around 4:35 p.m. on the 8400 block of Buhman Avenue in Pico Rivera.

Suspect Tobias Ruben Cabrera, 39, wanted for Zabala's murder was arrested Friday by the Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau.

Deputies from Pico Rivera Station and the Major Crimes Bureau learned about Cabrera's possible whereabouts, and set up a surveillance in the area of Whittier Boulevard and the San Gabriel River.

Major Crimes Bureau personnel observed the suspect -- described as a transient -- and were able to take him into custody without incident.

The suspect was transported to Pico Rivera Station and booked for murder. He is being held in lieu of one million dollars bail.

The investigation is still on-going.

Zabala leaves behind a wife and a 2-month-old son.
