Arrest Made In Stabbing Death Of Man In Pasadena

PASADENA (CBSLA) — Pasadena Police announced Saturday morning that a suspect has been arrested in the stabbing death of a 52-year-old man in Pasadena Friday.

Telly R. Johnson, 41, of Los Angeles, was arrested Friday night and booked for murder. Authorities said he was arrested without incident.

The victim was stabbed about 9:05 a.m. in front of an apartment building in the 100 block of South Euclid Avenue, Pasadena Police Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.

Glendale Police also assisted in the search for the suspect, officials said.

Friday evening, the victim was identified as Byron Nettles. His age was previously given as 48. He ran an apartment building that housed people who had struggled with addiction issues but who are now clean and sober.

A witness said suspect Johnson got into an altercation with Nettles when the victim said he was unable to help Johnson's wife.

Nettles was declared dead after arriving at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena.

Bail was set at $2 million.
