Armed Suspect Wanted For Robbing Riverside Jewelry Store

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday were looking for an armed suspect who robbed a jewelry store in Riverside.

Officers were called around 7:40 p.m. on Sept. 3 to the Kevin Jewelers at the Galleria at Tyler.

The suspect, who entered the store posing as a customer, allegedly removed a small handgun from the back of his pants, pointed it at an employee, threatened her and demanded she remove jewelry from a glass display. He told her to turn around and then fled the store with the unspecified jewelry, officials said.

Riverside police released surveillance video on their Facebook page Tuesday.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 50s, 5-feet 6-inches tall weighing 160 pounds and was clean shaven with grey hair. He was last seen wearing a tan long sleeve collared pullover, dark jeans, tan "newsboy" hat and clear lens glasses.

Anyone with any information about the crime or the identify of the suspect was asked to contact Detective Jim Brandt at (951)353-7137 or by email at JBrandt@riversideca.gov.
