Armed Suspect In Custody Following Standoff With Authorities Downtown

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —   Authorities took an armed suspect into custody Thursday afternoon following a standoff situation in Downtown Los Angeles.

Officials said CHP officers were serving a search warrant on a suspect at Sixth Street and Broadway.

The adult male suspect was accused of making criminal threats against law enforcement agents, officials said.

An LAPD SWAT team was dispatched for back up.

Several nearby streets were  cordoned off during the nearly two-hour confrontation, officials said.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky 9, said the street closures caused major headaches for drivers.

Broadway, between Fifth and Seventh, was closed.

Residents of nearby apartment buildings were told to shelter in place.

No injuries were reported.
