Armed Suspect Detained Following Six Hour Standoff In East LA

EAST LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — SWAT teams were on the scene of a barricade situation at a home in East Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m., an armed man who is a suspected gang member was forced outside when authorities deployed tear gas inside of a home located in the 4300 block of Folsom Street.

Around 6 p.m. on Monday, patrolling members of an anti-gang unit spotted the suspect and another man.

Both men fled before detectives could speak to them.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the suspect then barricaded himself inside of the home for six hours.

During the standoff, surrounding residences were evacuated.

Both men have been detained.

No injuries were reported.
