Man Allegedly Armed With Crossbow Surrenders After Standoff With Police In Rowland Heights

ROWLAND HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a man armed with a crossbow surrendered after a five-hour standoff Sunday at a residence in Rowland Heights.

Authorities were sent to the intersection of Fullerton Road and Mescal Street around 9:55 a.m. in response to a call about people fighting in the street.

Officers explained the incident began after the suspect and his father were involved in a fight in the 18000 block of Mescal.

The suspect was originally barricaded inside of the residence.

Officials said the suspect surrendered about 2:20 p.m. His father was able to leave the house before 11:30 a.m.

Some of the nearby residents were  evacuated during the standoff.

It was unclear if the crossbow was recovered.
