Armed Men Rob Century City Rolex Store

CENTURY CITY (CBSLA.com) — Two armed men robbed a Rolex store at the Westfield Century City mall Monday, firing at least one shot during the heist before fleeing the scene and prompting a massive police search of the area.

The robbery occurred just after noon at the luxury watch store in the 10000 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles police Officer Matthew Ludwig said.

At least one shot was fired during the crime, but no one was hurt, Ludwig said.

The robbers, who were armed with assault rifles, were described only as men wearing black clothes. A third was said to have remained outside the store, in a vehicle.

The getaway vehicle, a stolen four-door Camry, was located several blocks away from the crime scene, on Century Park West.

They made off with an undisclosed amount of property, Ludwig said.

"They entered the store and they did ransack the store, getting into cases and stealing numerous items," LAPD Lt. John Jenal said. "The security guard that works there saw the suspects just coming off the escalator, with the rifles, and tried to lock the store, but as he got to the door, the suspects got to the door, and at that point a shot was fired."
