Armed Man Holds Off Authorities At La Mirada Convenience Store

LA MIRADA (CBSLA.com) — An armed man kept authorities a bay Monday when he refused to come out of a convenience store in La Mirada.

The standoff began shortly after 9:15 p.m. at an am/pm store near South Beach Boulevard and Hillsborough Drive, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy Kelvin Moody said.

The man briefly emerged about 10:45 p.m., but went back into the store. A window was shattered near the door about the same time, but it was unclear how the glass was broken.

No employees or customers were reported to be inside the store, Moody said. There were also no reports of injuries.

A crisis negotiation team was requested at the scene, Moody said.
