Argument Leads To Cab Driver's Murder Outside Hawthorne Check Cashing Business

HAWTHORNE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Tuesday were investigating the murder of a taxi driver outside of a check cashing business in the South Bay.

The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday at a strip mall in the 12800 block of Prairie Avenue, near El Segundo Boulevard, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.

Investigators said the incident began when the 53-year-old driver got into an argument with a woman in the parking lot.

The unidentified victim was later confronted and assaulted by a man after he walked out of the check cashing business.

He died at a local hospital.

No suspect information was released.
