Arcadia Murder Suspect To Be Extradited From Hong Kong
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An Arcadia man who fled to Hong Kong after he allegedly slayed his teenage nephews will be returned to Los Angeles Friday afternoon.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will hold a news conference at 4:30 p.m. to discuss the circumstances surrounding the extradition of 44-year-old Deyun "Jeff" Shi.
According to homicide detectives, Shi is suspected of using a hatchet to assault his wife in La Cañada Flintridge after learning she obtained a restraining order against him and began divorce proceedings.
His anger later led him to allegedly murder his two teenage nephews at their home located in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue in Arcadia.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office ruled their cause of deaths as blunt force trauma.
A statement released by the Arcadia Unified School District identified the victims as William, 15, and Anthony, 16, Lin. They both attended Arcadia High School.
After allegedly committing the crimes on Jan. 21, Shi fled from the U.S. to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
He was detained in Hong Kong and will be extradited to Los Angeles.
